City commences with road marking along various roads in Cape Town CBD

The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate hereby advises residents, road users, businesses and the broader public of roadworks along various roads in the Cape Town CBD area. The road marking work will commence this week and is set to be completed by 30 November 2023 provided there are no unforeseen delays. Read more below:
The road markings will be done along the following roads:
• Philip Kgosana Drive
• Nelson Mandela Boulevard
• Eastern Boulevard
• Victoria Road in Camps Bay
• Kloof Nek Road
• FW de Klerk Boulevard
• Adderley Street
• Heerengracht Street
• Wale Street
• Buitengracht Street
• Castle Street
• Mill Street
• Riebeeck Street
Most of the work will be done on weekdays between 20:00 till 04:00 as well as on weekends.
The roadworks will include both machine and hand-applied road marking applications on higher order roads as well as residential area roads. These road marking services will include but are not limited to road and traffic calming infrastructure such as raised intersections and speed humps.
‘We are aware that the roads that require this road marking are along key access routes into and out of the City Bowl, which is why the teams have scheduled most of the works at night and on weekends to avoid adding to any traffic congestion. We aim to complete all the road marking by the end of the month and thank road users for their patience. Where possible, I recommend that commuters use alternative routes during this period,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility.
Residents can expect a level of noise pollution during this time.
